The Lenovo Tab Plus was announced in mid-2024 and only had 8 JBL speakers. Lenovo thought that was unacceptable – so here comes the second-generation model, the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2, with 9 JBL speakers.

The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 supports Dolby Atmos – the Dolby audio processing can be set to “Dynamic,” “Movie,” and “Music” modes. Interestingly, it also features a Bluetooth speaker mode if you want to play music from your smartphone with significantly higher sound quality than through the smartphone’s built-in speakers.

The second-generation model features a larger 12.1-inch LCD display (previously 11.5 inches) with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support. It offers a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and reaches up to 800 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM). The integrated kickstand allows you to position the display at a comfortable viewing angle for movies. It also rotates 360°, so you can use the tablet in portrait mode – ideal for video calls.

The integrated 10,200 mAh battery allows for up to 15 hours of YouTube streaming. The device supports 45-watt charging, but a charger is not included.

The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 is powered by the Dimensity 7400 and features 6, 8, or 12 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage. A microSD card slot supporting cards up to 2 TB is also included if you prefer to store your media locally. The tablet ships with Android 16 and will receive two operating system updates (up to Android 18) as well as four years of security updates (until 2030).

The onboard USB-C port only supports USB 2.0 speeds. Wireless connectivity is provided via Wi-Fi 6 (ax) and Bluetooth 5.4.

The Tab Pen Plus stylus and/or the Lenovo Wireless Keyboard are available as optional accessories. Due to the large speaker array on the back, this 12.1-inch tablet isn’t exactly the most portable: it weighs 775 g and measures 6.8 mm at its thinnest points, and 22.7 mm at the speaker area. If you plan to carry the tablet with you frequently, the Lenovo Sleeve Suite is recommended.

The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 will soon be available in select markets for $400 (€345) or £370. The corresponding pages in the UK, Australia, and Singapore currently redirect to a general Lenovo tablet page. The tablet has already received the iF Design Award.
