Apple iPhone 17e unveiled with A19 chip and MagSafe charging capability
As expected, Apple’s week of product announcements has begun, starting with the Apple iPhone 17e. The latest affordable iPhone is very similar to last year’s iPhone 16e. However, it offers some improvements at the same price. First of all, the iPhone 17e is now powered by Apple’s A19 chip, albeit with only a quad-core GPU. The device does, however, feature the latest C1X modem, which is designed to offer improved connectivity.
On the front, the Apple iPhone 17e still features a 6.1-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2532 x 1170 pixels, a 60Hz refresh rate, and a cutout for Face ID and the selfie camera. However, the display is now protected by the newer Ceramic Shield 2 glass.
The Apple iPhone 17e features a single 48-megapixel camera on the back with optical image stabilization (OIS) and support for 4K video recording at 60 frames per second with Dolby Vision. Apple states that portrait performance has been improved thanks to a new image processing pipeline. A 12-megapixel front-facing camera is available for selfies and video calls.
Apple iPhone 17e now with MagSafe
The iPhone 17e now also features MagSafe, enabling compatibility with a range of accessories. It also supports 15W wireless charging and faster wired charging.
Other specifications include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, IP68 certification, GPS, NFC, and eSIM support. As with the more expensive iPhones it also includes emergency SOS, messaging, and satellite-based “Find My” support. It runs on iOS 26.3 and, thanks to 8 GB of RAM, is also compatible with Apple Intelligence.
Prices
The iPhone 17e is available from €699/$599 for the 256GB model. The 512GB version costs €949/$799. In our Apple iPhone 17e price comparison prices are likely to fall soon.
It is available in black, white, and the new color Soft Pink. Pre-orders are possible from March 4th, with delivery starting on March 11th.
