Apple Watch Ultra 3 finally arrives after a two-year hiatus
According to analyst Jeff Pu of GF Securities Hong Kong, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will launch this year. According to his latest product roadmap presented to investors, the analyst expects both the Apple Watch Series 11 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3 to launch this year. Based on previous product launches, a launch alongside the new iPhone 17 series at the end of September is likely.
Watch Ultra fans, however, had to wait a long time. Apple completely forwent an update to the robust smartwatch in 2024 and instead simply added a black titanium color option to the existing Apple Watch Ultra 2. This means that in September, it will be almost two years since we’ve seen any significant changes to the Ultra series.
Pu’s schedule aligns with that of other industry observers, who expect Apple’s fall event to bring updates to the entire Apple Watch family. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has suggested that the Apple Watch Ultra 3 could feature satellite connectivity and 5G capabilities, which would likely justify the extended development cycle.
The analyst’s Apple roadmap paints an interesting picture for 2025. In particular, he predicts that Apple will also release its rumored HomePad tablet this year, while the AirPods Pro 3 could be delayed to 2026. This schedule also aligns with other current forecasts.
For ultra users still holding on to first-generation models, the wait could finally be worth it. Two years of development time could mean more extensive upgrades than the typical annual update cycle allows.
