Samsung is currently working hard on One UI 8 Watch, which will be introduced in July with the upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 models. Older Galaxy Watches will subsequently receive the new firmware as an update. However, a limited number of Galaxy Watch owners can participate in the beta program and test some of the new features as early as this month.

Samsung One UI 8 Watch with four new health features

Samsung is introducing four health-focused features with the One UI 8 Watch update – improving your sleep, monitoring your vascular system, and supporting your running training. One function monitors antioxidants (carotenoids), which promote healthy aging.

The Bedtime Guide suggests an optimal bedtime based on your lifestyle and sleep habits. It also reminds you to stick to it. The feature continuously recalculates your bedtime based on your sleep over the past three days.

This is linked to the Vascular Load function, which measures the load on your vascular system during sleep. The watch monitors your stats and combines them with other factors like sleep, exercise, and stress to help you lead a healthier lifestyle and develop healthy habits.

Speaking of training: The Running Coach in One UI 8 Watch analyzes your running performance after a 12-minute run and gives you a rating from 1 to 10. It then calculates a detailed running plan for 5K, 10K, half marathon, and even a marathon, based on your performance level. On your next runs, the watch provides real-time guidance and helps you avoid injuries caused by going too fast.

Good sleep and exercise are good, but not enough, as bad habits can creep in and negatively impact your health. The Antioxidant Index, with its BioActive optical sensor, measures the carotenoids stored in your skin in just 5 seconds. Carotenoids are antioxidants found in green and orange vegetables and fruits.

“Sleep remains a cornerstone of our approach to health, as it influences physical and mental well-being, social relationships and even work performance. Now, we envision our Galaxy Watch delivering holistic insights centered around sleep — insights that lead to meaningful changes in daily life. We believe this aligns with our vision of empowering you to lead healthier lives through proactive care and holistic health management,” said Dr. Hon Pak, Senior Vice President and Head of Digital Health Team at Samsung’s Mobile eXperience division.
