Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 officially arrives sooner

Recently, there were rumors that the first devices with the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset will hit the market at the end of September. The chip itself would therefore be unveiled earlier than its predecessor, which came onto the market last October.

As part of its Computex presentation today, Qualcomm confirmed that the next Snapdragon Summit will take place from September 23rd to 25th. The Snapdragon Summit is the company’s annual event where it unveils its latest and greatest Snapdragon chips. This leaves little to the imagination— September 23rd is the day the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will be officially unveiled.
With this in mind, the Chinese flagship smartphones using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 are expected to be announced for the domestic market in China in late September or early October. Given the schedule changes, we wouldn’t be surprised if the global launches also come earlier than usual.
This puts Samsung in a disadvantageous position. According to rumors, the next generation of its foldable smartphones, more specifically the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, will be launched in early July. That would be just three months before the chipset under the hood of the Galaxy phones gets an update.
