The report also suggests that the Apple Vision Pro 2 could get a different name, including Apple Vision Air.

One of the biggest drawbacks of the Apple Vision Pro headset, aside from the price, is its weight. Apple is reportedly making significant efforts to reduce this in the second generation. According to tipster Kosutami on X, one of the measures is to use some components in the construction of the Apple Vision Pro 2 from titanium.

According to the discussion on X, titanium will primarily be used in the internal construction of the Apple Vision Pro 2. The exterior of the headset will continue to be made of black-painted aluminum, which is strongly reminiscent of “dark graphite blue,” and thus reminiscent of the iPhone 5 series.

Furthermore, the X post suggests that Apple’s next AR headset will likely not be called “Vision Pro 2,” but simply “Vision” or “Vision Air.” This is Apple’s way of reflecting its new, lightweight design.

It will be interesting to see how Apple plans to incorporate titanium into the overall cost. According to rumors, the Californian company also wants to cut costs with the Apple Vision Pro 2, as a $3,499 price tag has proven to be one of the major dealbreakers, which is why the headset hasn’t been able to gain traction so far. But it’s almost impossible to build technology more expensive than titanium. If Apple goes down this route, a second Vision Pro Lite model is a pretty safe bet. According to a tip from last week, the market launch could take place before the end of this year.
