Apple iPhone Fold: New report reveals camera setup

A new leak has just revealed further details about the camera system of the upcoming Apple iPhone Fold. Apple’s first foldable smartphone is expected to launch next year. Rumors suggest it will feature a crease-free 7.8-inch main display and a 5.5-inch outer screen.

According to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Apple iPhone Fold will feature a dual-camera main camera setup and front-facing cameras that can be used in both the folded and unfolded state. Previous reports revealed that an under-screen camera (USC) will be used in the unfolded state. This will be complemented by a traditional front-facing camera in the folded state, giving us two regular main cameras and two selfie cameras on board.

According to Korean tipster yeux1122, citing an unknown Weibo source, Apple has opted for a punch-hole front-facing camera on the outer display. The design is said to be “almost identical to current foldable devices” on the market, such as Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold. yeux1122 also cited previously published information on display sizes and resolutions.
It remains unclear, however, whether the punch-hole will be visible while the display is in use or whether it will disappear into a dynamic island. Face ID, on the other hand, is not expected to be included. Instead, Apple is believed to integrate Touch ID into the power button on the side to save internal space for other components.
Apple iPhone Fold: Production to Start in Late 2026
Kuo says that the final hardware specifications will be finalized in the second quarter of this year (April to June), suggesting that some elements may still be subject to change. However, equally well-known analyst Jeff Pu claims that the device has already entered the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase at Foxconn. This is a critical phase in Apple’s product development cycle. This suggests that key specifications may already have been decided.
Mass production of the Apple iPhone Fold is reportedly planned for the fourth quarter of 2026, with a release expected by the end of next year. The first-generation foldable iPhone is expected to have a price between $2,000 and $2,300. A second-generation model is reportedly already in the pipeline, with mass production expected to begin in the second half of 2027.
