According to a well-known Weibo tipster, the upcoming Apple iPhone Fold will likely cost about 10% more than its rival Samsung device. The leak comes from Weibo user Instant Digital, who suggests a price tag of between $2,100 and $2,300 for Apple’s first foldable device. That’s not all that much more than the MSRP of the current Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 starts at €1,999/$1,899 (MSRP at launch), while the Galaxy Z Flip6 launched with a price tag of €1,199/$1,219.99. The first Apple iPhone Fold is said to have a book-like design that folds vertically, just like the Z Fold. The alleged price would make Apple’s foldable device about $200 to $400 more expensive than its Samsung counterpart.

The Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, on the other hand, starts at €1,449/$1,199. With the 1 TB storage configuration, the price increases to a whopping €1,949/$1,599. This means the Apple iPhone Fold will still be around $1,000 more expensive than the current flagship iPhone. Leaks and rumors about the Apple iPhone Fold are slowly but surely increasing, suggesting it will launch as early as next year.

Tipster Instant Digital has a mixed track record with Apple rumors, but has also provided some fairly accurate information, such as the upcoming launch of the yellow iPhone 14 in 2023. He also correctly predicted the frosted version of the iPhone 15 and ‌iPhone 15‌ Plus, as well as the Apple Watch Series 9 as a relatively minor update and spatial video recording on the ‌iPhone 15‌ Pro. He was also right about the latest iPad Air and the landscape-oriented front camera of the iPad Pro.
