Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7: New leak reveals various upgrades
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is coming this year, most likely in July. We’ve already heard that it will launch with Android 16 and One UI 8 on board, which was made possible by Google pushing the release window for the new Android version to sometime in the second quarter, between April and June.
Today, a new rumor reveals more specs about Samsung’s next internationally available foldable, including the chipset. Unsurprisingly, it’s Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite in the slightly faster “for Galaxy” version, just like the Galaxy S25 series.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 will also reportedly launch with an improved under-display selfie camera, a “stronger display with new layers,” whatever that means, improved water and dust resistance, a smaller fold, a larger vapor chamber, and even improved speakers and a better vibration motor than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold5.
In addition, the flip phone is expected to be even thinner, measuring just 4.5 mm when unfolded, and feature larger displays – an 8-inch panel inside and a 6.5-inch one on the outside. Finally, a new 200 MP main camera is planned. This could be the same sensor used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
This is a fairly extensive list of updates for a model series that has seen rather sparse updates in recent years. Although it doesn’t offer any groundbreaking innovations, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 could potentially regain lost ground in the foldable smartphone space, especially compared to its Chinese competitors. However, the price of the Samsung phone and the international availability of its competitors remain to be seen.
