Apple wants to celebrate its 20th anniversary in style. This could include a wraparound display on the Apple iPhone 19 and an iPhone Fold.

The original iPhone was launched in June 2007, which means we’ll be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2027. Time for a comprehensive design update for the Apple iPhone 19, at least according to well-known tech journalist Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. This fits in with another Apple topic of the past few months: the Americans will reportedly launch their first foldable iPhone in 2027.

The new Apple iPhone 19 Pro, on the other hand, is said to “use glass more extensively.” The report doesn’t go into detail on this point. However, since the current iPhones already have glass on both the display and the back, only the frame remains. And that leaves plenty of room for further speculation. For example, the Apple iPhone 19 series could feature a wraparound display like the Xiaomi Mix Alpha or the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.

Rumors about an iPhone with a glass frame have been circulating for years. Former Apple design chief Jony Ive reportedly wanted to build an iPhone made entirely of glass as early as 2017. The ultra-thin device would thus “look like a single sheet of glass.”

Gurman’s recent report also clarified that the iPhone 17 Pro series will not have a two-tone back, as some renderings suggest. Instead, the devices will feature a solid color, like the current iPhone 16 Pro models. Finally, Gurman confirmed that the new camera island will span the entire width of the 17 Pro models.
