Admittedly, Samsung hasn’t handled the One UI 7 update particularly well, as many users had to wait more than half a year after the release of Android 15 for the stable update. However, the latest report from SamMobile suggests that Samsung will try to fix things with the next iteration of One UI 8, specifically for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7.

According to the rumor, the Korean company plans to launch the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 with One UI 8 on board, based on Android 16. Google usually releases the annual Android upgrade in the second half of the year, and we expect the foldable Galaxy models to launch in late July to early August, so the schedule is predictable.

Still, it’s quite surprising, as Samsung usually pre-installs the current One UI version with an incremental upgrade. The launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 with One UI 8 could therefore mean that the software will be available for the Galaxy S25 and S24 series much sooner.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE Specs

There have long been rumors that Samsung will launch a more affordable, foldable, flip-style smartphone this year, to complement the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 in July. Some specifications of the Galaxy Z Flip FE – or Z Flip7 FE – have now leaked. The smartphone is said to be powered by the Exynos 2400e chipset, the same one used in last year’s Galaxy S24 FE.

At least in Europe, as these specifications apply to the SM-F761B model. Other markets could receive a different chipset, as Samsung likes to mix things up a lot in this regard. The Galaxy Z Flip FE will have 8 GB of RAM and the same camera system as the 2023 Z Flip5—a 12 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 10 MP selfie camera.

The source of these specifications further claims that the Flip FE will essentially be a Flip5 with an updated chipset. It remains to be seen whether the battery capacity will also remain at 3,700 mAh. The main advantage of the Flip FE is that it will be cheaper than the Flip7, which shouldn’t be too bad considering the slimmed-down hardware.
