Xiaomi 16 to get a larger display

The Xiaomi 15 was only launched internationally at the beginning of this month, but rumors are already busy churning about its successor, the Xiaomi 16, which, as usual, will be released in China in October. According to a tip from today, the new flagship will have a larger display. The 15 model had a 6.36-inch display. It will also feature a periscope telephoto camera.

This exact information already appeared in the last leak about the Xiaomi 16 on January 2nd. However, today’s leak goes a step further and claims that it will feature an ultra-thin periscope camera with a stacked sensor. Stacked sensors stack the various RGBB transistors in two layers on top of each other, increasing the light intensity of these chips by up to 30%.
An ultra-thin periscope is one thing that makes the Xiaomi 16 as thin as possible. The larger display is another, as this naturally also allows for more internal space for the individual components. Whether Xiaomi can compete with the Apple iPhone 17 Air and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge for the thinnest smartphone remains to be seen. However, the trend is clear.
However, it is still unclear how much larger the display of the Xiaomi 16 will be. It is unlikely that it will reach the size of the Xiaomi 15 Pro at 6.73 inches. Therefore, a value somewhere between 6.36 and 6.73 inches is a plausible theory until the next leak on this topic appears. Xiaomi fans, on the other hand, have been waiting a long time for the periscope telephoto lens. Both the Pro and the Xiaomi 15 Ultra have one, as if it’s about time for the smallest model in Xiaomi’s premium series.
