Apple MacBook Air M4 with new front camera and in sky blue is here
Apple today announced an update to the MacBook Air lineup that includes three changes: an updated M4 chip, a new color, and an improved front-facing camera. The Apple MacBook Air M4 chipset was introduced on the iMac and Mac mini last year. It has 10 CPU cores and either 8 or 10 GPU cores, depending on the configuration.
Apple claims the new chip offers 1.6x faster performance in Excel and twice the performance in iMovie and Adobe Photoshop compared to the M1 models. The new chip also enables other features such as improved external display support. The Apple MacBook Air M4 supports up to two external 6K displays at 60Hz, compared to just one on the predecessor MacBook Air M3.
The new MacBook Air models also come in a new color. The shade is called Sky Blue, and it’s a metallic light blue that “creates a dynamic gradient when light reflects off its surface.” This color joins the existing Midnight, Starlight, and Silver color options.
Lastly, the new Apple MacBook Air M4 models also feature an updated 12MP center stage camera, which is also found on the MacBook Pro models. Video recording remains at 1080p, however. Since it’s an ultra-wide-angle camera, the center stage feature means you can now move around the room without losing focus. There’s also the Desk View feature, which lets you record both yourself and a perspective-corrected view of your desk below.
Aside from these changes, the MacBook Air 2025 is identical to the previous model, featuring the same basic design and dimensions, display, keyboard, and trackpad. The RAM and storage options, speakers, and microphone array are also identical. While the new model has a slightly larger 53.8Wh battery compared to 52.6Wh before, the battery life figures are identical.
Apple MacBook Air M4 prices
The prices of the Apple MacBook Air 15″ 2025 M4 and MacBook Air 15″ 2025 M4 have surprisingly dropped by 100 euros / 100 US dollars: 1,199 euros / 999 US dollars for the 13-inch model and 1,499 euros / 1,199 US dollars for the 15-inch model.
