The Samsung Galaxy A56 with the Exynos 1580 chipset and a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with smaller bezels on all four sides is here. The phone is also thinner than its predecessor with a profile of 7.4mm and has a redesigned camera island – there are no more protruding lenses.

The Samsung Galaxy A56 is the first smartphone with the Exynos 1580 chipset, although the processor was introduced back in October. The 1580 is a big upgrade over its predecessor, so the new model also has significantly more power than the previous Galaxy A55. The prime core runs at 2.9 GHz, plus there is an AMD GPU and an NPU with 14.7 TOPS. Compared to last year, performance has increased by 37%. There is also 8 GB of RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy A56’s display has also been redesigned and is now 1,200 nits bright with a peak brightness of 1,900 nits. It retains the Full HD+ resolution and Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection, but now also has Victus+ glass on the back and an aluminum frame.

The cameras, however, have not changed. On the back there is still a 50 MP f/1.8 main camera, a 12 MP f/2.2 ultrawide and a 5 MP f/2.4 macro lens. The 12 MP f/2.2 selfie camera on the front is also unchanged.

What has changed is the camera software, which now also integrates AI. The Samsung Galaxy A56 offers contextual image enhancement, better night photos and videos with a low-noise mode and faster burst shooting. The seamless zoom between the main and ultra-wide-angle cameras has also doubled and switching now takes less than 430 ms.

As has been the case with Samsung lately, you can also look forward to long software support. The Galaxy A56 will get six major operating system updates and six years of security updates. It will launch with Android 15 and One UI 7.0, which offers a redesigned user interface and more personalization options. The Samsung phone also comes with Circle to Search, which allows you to search for anything on the display using gestures.

Samsung Galaxy A56 with 45 watt charging

In addition, there is finally an update to the charging speed. The Galaxy A series is getting wired charging with 45 watts, which was previously only available for the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra. Samsung calls the whole thing Super Fast Charge 2.0 and promises to fill the 5,000 mAh cell to 65% in 30 minutes. A full charge takes 68 minutes.

The Samsung Galaxy A56 is available in four colors: Graphite Gray, Light Gray, Olive and Pink. The 128GB version is priced at €479/$499, while 256GB will set you back €529/£499.
