Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold: No launch with Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7?

According to a tip, the Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold will not launch with the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. Although Samsung already showed a teaser.

According to previous rumors, the Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold, the first triple-folding smartphone after the Huawei Mate XT, will be launched this summer. However, Samsung is taking a different approach with the Tri-Fold and favors a G-shaped folding mechanism compared to Huawei’s Z-shaped one.

The Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold has the advantage that the folding display is completely protected when the device is folded, while part of the Mate XT is exposed. To do this, the Samsung foldable needs a second cover display on the top and the folding mechanism is much more complex, as one of the three display parts has to fold around two other parts, not just one.

According to a new rumor from Korea, the Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold will be launched with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. This is expected to happen in July, if the company follows the same schedule as last year. In the run-up to the unveiling, Samsung will begin sourcing parts for the device in April, and mass production is also said to begin then.

Samsung’s Tri-Fold is said to have a 9.96-inch main display when unfolded and a 6.49-inch cover display when folded. Rumors suggest that Samsung will only produce around 200,000 units of this device. Accordingly, the release may be limited to certain countries, as with the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.

Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold delayed

Now for the bad news: According to a second tip from @MaxJmb on X, Samsung is actually working on a Galaxy Tri-Fold in Korea. However, the smartphone will not be ready in time for the summer Unpacked event. Instead, Samsung is planning a later launch.

Another tipster put forward exactly this theory in early December and dated the launch to early 2026. However, an earlier launch is supported by the fact that Samsung itself teased the Tri-Fold at the Unpacked event for the Galaxy S25 series last month. Until the launch, the Huawei Mate XT mentioned above remains the only triple-folding phone on the market. It will be interesting to see Samsung’s response and whether someone else will get there before the Koreans, such as Honor or Oppo.
