Samsung Exynos 2500 chip to launch in Q3 2025
With the Samsung Galaxy S25 series out there without any sign of the Exynos 2500 chipset, some were quick to assume that we won’t get an Exynos-powered Samsung flagship this year. However, confirmation that the company is working on the chipset comes from an unlikely place – Samsung’s earnings report.
In an earnings call before investors, the System LSI division shared some information about the Samsung Exynos 2500. According to the report, the Korean tech giant is working on further developing the flagship chipset and wants to “secure design wins for planned mobile devices with release in the second half of 2025.”
What can we expect in the second half of 2025? Clearly, the next foldables from South Korea. This suggests that Samsung plans to equip its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 smartphones with the Exynos 2500 processor. However, we don’t know if all versions of these phones will use the Exynos or if some markets will get Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, as is usual with Samsung. Nevertheless, there definitely seem to be devices with the Samsung Exynos 2500 as well.
Samsung Exynos 2500 specifications
There is already some information about the Samsung Exynos 2500, but a new source now provides more specific details. The CPU configuration consists of a main core Cortex-X925 with a clock speed of up to 3.3 GHz, accompanied by two Cortex-A725 cores with a speed of up to 2.75 GHz and five more Cortex-A725 cores with a speed of up to 2.36 GHz. Finally, there are two Cortex-A520 cores with a clock speed of up to 1.8 GHz. So in total, that’s ten powerful CPU cores, apparently supported by 16 MB of L3 cache.
The Samsung Exynos 2500 offers 16-bit quad-channel LPDDR5X memory support with a speed of around 9.6 Gbps. Of course, there is also support for UFS 4.X storage. The integrated GPU is a Samsung Xclipse 950 GPU (AMD RDNA3.5 Base Custom 8WGP) with a clock frequency of 1.3 GHz. An integrated NPU with a performance of 56 TOPs is also available. The integrated ISP supports resolutions of up to 320 MP and enables hardware-side 8K@60fps video decoding and 8K@30fps video recording.
Both the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and the Galaxy Z Flip7 and a potential Z Flip7 FE are expected to be launched sometime in July 2025, if history repeats itself. Today’s tip, by the way, contradicts exactly the latest leaks about Samsung’s foldables, according to which there will only be Snapdragon 8 Elite devices.
