Xiaomi Poco X7 and Poco X7 Pro are finally here
After months of leaks and teasers, the Xiaomi Poco X7 and Poco X7 Pro are finally here. They differ mainly in their chipsets and battery capacity. The two mid-range phones are similar to two Redmi models that are currently only available in China.
Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro
The Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro is largely based on the Redmi Turbo 4 with its Dimensity 8400 chipset and 6.67-inch AMOLED display. The front panel supports a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, offers a peak brightness of up to 3,200 nits and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. On the back there is a 50 MP main camera with OIS and an IMX882 sensor from Sony. There is also an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The selfie camera in the punch hole has a 20 MP sensor.
The Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro offers a large 6,000 mAh battery. The version for India even has a capacity of 6,500 mAh, just like the Turbo 4. In both cases, the cell charges at a fast 90 watts, going from 0 to 100% in 42 minutes. Xiaomi promises 90% capacity after 1,000 cycles and the phone can even be charged in extremely cold environments.
The Poco X7 Pro comes with HyperOS 2, based on Android 15. This of course includes various AI features, including AI Erase Pro, AI Image Expansion, AI Film, AI Interpreter, AI Notes and AI Recorder. If that’s not enough, the phone comes pre-installed with the Google Gemini app, which offers AI support for writing, learning and brainstorming.
The list of highlights continues with IP68 water and dust protection (the variant in India also has IP66 and IP69), NFC, an IR transmitter and dual-frequency GPS. The fingerprint scanner is located under the OLED panel and you get dual-SIM support. There are three color options – green, black and yellow, with the latter being vegan leather. There are also three storage options – 8/256GB, 12/256GB and 12/512GB, but not every market will get all three.
Xiaomi Poco X7
The Xiaomi Poco X7 is powered by the Dimensity 7300 chip but shares the 6.67-inch AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate with the Pro. However, the protection has been downgraded to Gorilla Glass 7i. While the Pro has two cameras, the regular X7 has three – a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide angle and a 2MP macro camera. The main camera with OIS and a Sony IMX882 sensor is identical, as is the 20MP selfie camera.
These specifications are very similar to those of the Redmi Note 14 Pro. Unfortunately, the battery capacity of the Xiaomi Poco X7 is only 5,110 mAh and the charging support is 45 watts. In return, the battery should retain 80% of its capacity with 1,600 charging cycles, which corresponds to over four years of normal use.
It is rather disappointing that Xiaomi only ships the Poco X7 with the first version of HyperOS, which only has a small number of AI functions on board. At least it has an IP68 certification (in India also IP66 and IP69), NFC, the IR blaster and a UD fingerprint scanner. The Xiaomi smartphone is available in silver, green and black and yellow, the latter with a vegan leather back. The storage options are 8/128 GB, 8/256 GB or 12/512 GB, with the RAM being LPDDR4X and the storage only UFS 2.2.
Pricing and availability
The Xiaomi Poco X7 starts at €249/$229/INR25,999 for 8/256GB. For 12/512GB, you’ll pay €289/£299. The Poco X7 Pro starts at €319/$279/INR30,999 for 8/256GB. The top-of-the-line 12/512GB model goes for €449/$339/£349.
The phones will be available from the Xiaomi store (since the Poco website has been shut down) as well as third-party retailers. There’s also an exclusive Poco X7 Pro Ironman Edition with a 3D Avengers logo on the back and a snazzy retail box.
The Iron Man version is only available with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, and is priced at €399/$399 with a $30 discount for early bird purchases.
