Samsung Exynos 2400: 10-core CPU with a maximum frequency of 3.2 GHz

Samsung introduced the Galaxy S24 series yesterday. The regular Galaxy S24 and larger Galaxy S24+ will feature the Exynos 2400 chipset in certain markets, including Europe. The chipset was technically presented in October, but important details such as processor speeds and core clusters remained Samsung’s secret. Now all important functions and technical data are official.

The Samsung Exynos 2400 has an extremely powerful Cortex-X4 core with a clock speed of 3.2 GHz, two Cortex-A720 cores at 2.9 GHz and three additional Cortex-A720 at 2.6 GHz. There are also four more efficient Cortex-A520 cores that tick at 2 GHz. Samsung has already confirmed that the new chipset brings a 1.7x increase in CPU performance and a 14.7x increase in AI performance compared to its two-year-old predecessor Exynos 2200 from the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The Xclipse 940 GPU is based on AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture, which should benefit mobile ray tracing, rendering and reflections.

The Exynos 2400 is based on Samsung Semiconductor’s 4nm LPP+ process, all cores are built according to the ARMv9 architecture. Of course, there is also a new ISP and support for LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The AI engine features a 17K MAC NPU (2-GNPU + 2-SNPU). This means that it works at both a graphics and system level. Camera support is up to 320 megapixels on a single camera, while video support is up to 8K at 60 fps with 10-bit HEVC.

In terms of connectivity, Exynos 2400 devices can work with GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Galileo systems. The 5G NR Sub-6Hz modem achieves uplink speeds of up to 9.64 GHz, while mmWave reaches up to 12.1 GHz.
