Apple confirms: Revised Siri version coming in 2026
Apple still plans to launch the smarter and more powerful version of Siri in 2026, the company said. CNBC Apple’s statement came just one day after Bloomberg reported on problems with the updated version that could lead to potential delays in the feature.
Apple originally planned to release the Apple Intelligence-powered version of Siri in spring 2025. However, shortly before the expected launch in March 2025, Apple stated that the AI was not yet ready and needed more time. Later that year, Apple announced that the update would not be released until 2026.
Although Apple has never given a more precise timeline than “2026,” Bloomberg reported that the company planned to integrate Siri into iOS 26.4, an update scheduled for spring 2026. However, according to Bloomberg’s latest report, the AI will not be ready in time for iOS 26.4, so the new features may not be available until iOS 26.5 or iOS 27.
First Siri AI features live as early as 2024
Back in June 2024, Apple unveiled three new Siri features: screen recognition, context-aware functions, and enhanced interaction capabilities within and between apps. Since then, Apple has been working on additional features such as image generation and a web search tool.
In Apple’s tests, Siri sometimes seems to miss requests, to not process correctly and sometimes react too slowly. Since some features aren’t working as intended, the new features might be rolled out gradually across several updates. It’s possible we’ll see one or two new AI features in iOS 26.4, with more to follow in future updates up to 2026. Several iOS 26 updates are planned for 2026, and iOS 27 will be released in September 2026.
Apple issued a statement to CNBC as the company’s shares fell five percent today, both due to rumors of an AI delay and because of the FTC review of Apple News.
Apple will likely release the first beta version of iOS 26.4 later this month, which will hopefully shed more light on the matter.
