Fortnite’s Halloween event is packed with horror franchises
The annual Halloween event is already promising to be one of the biggest Fortnitemares of all time – even before it’s started. Epic Games has released the trailer for the 2026 event, revealing exciting details about the upcoming content, including all the fun characters from horror franchises that will be available in the game.
Thanks to Halloween, October is the best month for horror fans. A spooky atmosphere pervades everything: people decorate their homes and plan their costumes, horror movies flood streaming services, and themed collaborations take over video games. Although Fortnite has a cartoonish style and an overall cheerful vibe, it takes Halloween very seriously; every year it hosts a major event with creepy skins and fun crossovers.
Fortnite unveils a series of horror franchise collaborations for Halloween
Epic Games has released the trailer for the 2026 event, confirming that numerous exciting characters from horror franchises will be joining the Battle Royale mode this Halloween. The reveals began earlier this week with a crossover trailer featuring Five Nights at Freddy’s and were surpassed by today’s cinematic trailer.
Fortnitemares 2026 will include a Freddy Krueger skin (and maybe a boss too?) from Nightmare on Elm Street; Betelgeuse herself from Beetlejuice; Asta from Black Clover – probably to help you fight the villains; the iconic Statue of Liberty from The Purge: Election Day, which has already been spotted at Halloween Horror Nights; and one of the internet’s most infamous horror figures, Slender Man.
In addition to these fantastic skin reveals, the trailer ends with an even more exciting climax: The One Wish Willow from Obsession flashes on the screen before Freddy Krueger cuts the camera and everything goes black.
