Overwatch‘s new hero, Doctrine, was revealed at BlizzCon 2026 on Saturday and described by Blizzard Entertainment as a vampire-inspired support hero with high gameplay potential. The new support hero also introduces a new mechanic that allows him to “power up” his weapon and other abilities to strategically unleash a surge of power in critical moments.

At BlizzCon, attendees were able to play Doctrine for the first time and get a glimpse of the full range of abilities of Doomfist’s old ally. Although Doctrine’s abilities are somewhat complex, he’s immediately fun and offers elements that will appeal to offensively oriented healers, Reaper players used in support roles, and all Overwatch players with a penchant for gothic style.

Here is Doctrine’s complete ability kit, based on the version of Overwatch that will be playable at BlizzCon 2026:

Overwatch Doctrine Hero Info

weapon

  • Eternal Scepter – A mid-range weapon that heals allies and damages enemies. Infused: Fires a larger, penetrating beam.

Ultimate

  • Liberation – Launches a swarm of drones that reduces the enemy’s maximum health and grants additional health to allies.

skills

  • Infuse – Add a powerful effect to your next ability.
  • Concealed Dynamics – Horizontal Assault with Damage Reduction. Infused: Gain Free Flight.
  • Invigorating Drones: Deploys drones to an ally, granting attack speed and healing. Infused: Also deploys drones to yourself.

Passive

Sub-role: Survivor

Movement skills are initially passive.

Advantages

Minor (Level 2)

  • Saving Grace – Revitalizing Drones heal 40 health upon application.
  • Blood Siphon – Heals 50% of the damage caused by the Infused Eternal Scepter.

Major (Level 3)

  • Transfusion – Reduces the cooldown of Infuse through damage dealt and healing.
  • Cost of Living – Sacrifices 25 maximum health points. The healing of the Eternal Scepter is increased by 20%.

Doctrine’s weapon, the Eternal Scepter, functions similarly to Juno, Ana, and Jetpack Cat’s primary weapons: it heals allies and deals damage to enemies with combined fire. This simplifies his skill set, as players can enhance it with infusions to increase the power of his shots. Veiled Dynamics is essentially Doctrine’s version of Reaper’s Ghost Form, while Invigorating Drones provide him with an alternative healing option.

Doctrine’s perks offer some surprisingly contradictory choices: at level 2, players can choose which type of healing they want to enhance, and in rare cases, reduce their overall hit points to increase the healing of the Eternal Scepter. Since Infuse’s cooldown feels very long, deciding which perk to choose at level 3 won’t be easy in the heat of battle.

Doctrine is playable this weekend as part of a limited-time test phase and will officially join the Overwatch roster in Season 5, which starts in October.
