Where is the secret Diablo 4 cow level?

The new expansion “Lord of Hatred” for Diablo 4 brought some promising developments in the search for the fabled “secret cow level”, but so far the level itself remains a mystery.

Players have been searching for the Cow Level, a Diablo series tradition, since the initial release of Diablo 4 in 2023. Both Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 had their own versions of this fun level (which actually proved quite lucrative), leading fans to assume that Diablo 4 would also have such a level, although Blizzard has not confirmed this.
He insisted that wasn’t the case. The base game and its first expansion both provided new clues to the level’s whereabouts and seemed to advance the search, but the mystery hunters hit a dead end both times. Lord of Hatred, however, changed that.
As seen in the video above from a member of the Diablo 4 Discord server “Not Finding A Cow Level,” dedicated Cow Level hunters have finally found a use for previously discovered secret items like the Stamina Potion and the Rusted Bardiche, thanks to the Horadric Cube (a crafting tool that granted access to different versions of the Cow Level in previous Diablo games). Combining these items in the Cube with a macabre new item, Neyrelle’s Hand, transforms them into an entirely new item: the Believer’s Cow Skull Trophy. This trophy, in turn, grants a Torn Journal Page.
Now it gets interesting. After obtaining the page, a small boat appears off the coast of the new region of Skovos. The players are taken away on board, while quotes from a prophecy about cattle appear on the screen. The small island where the boat drops the players off is deserted, except for some cow statues, a hint of the secret pony level from Diablo 3 and a basement.
Diablo 4 Cow Level: “This has to be it!”
Upon entering the cellar, one discovers a kind of temple where a circle of cows appears to be attempting a magical ritual. A note on the temple wall reveals a fragment of a map inscribed with the words: “This must be it!”, along with another clue yet to be interpreted.
Players are still trying to crack the code for the Cow Level, but it remains to be seen whether the Cow Level will actually appear in “Lord of Hatred”—three years after the release of Diablo 4. Datamining has revealed a new item: the Cow King’s Crown. Many therefore believe that the discovery of the Cow Level is imminent. However, it’s also possible that all these clues will lead nowhere and we’ll have to wait several more years for a new expansion. So we’ll just have to be patient.
Blizzard, for its part, seems to enjoy teasing fans. During a livestream for Lord of Hatred before its release, several Blizzard developers wore cow-themed T-shirts, and in an interview, Zaven Haroutunian, Associate Game Director of Diablo 4, even explicitly hinted at a secret supposedly hidden in the endgame activity “The Pit”—though players apparently haven’t discovered it yet.
On the newly discovered Cow Island, a room in the temple, filled with human skeletons praying at a cow altar, is labeled “Waiting Room.” This could very well mean that anyone hoping to finally see the Cow Level will have to wait a very, very long time.
Fortunately, Blizzard has added plenty of new things to see and do in Diablo 4 while players wait for the big reveal. Besides a new campaign, the Lord of Hatred expansion for Diablo 4 added two new classes: Paladin and Warlock. Furthermore, Diablo 4’s endgame was revamped with the introduction of War Plans. Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred completely overhauled the skill trees for each class, leaving players divided on whether this is an improvement.
