Overwatch’s new hero Sierra revealed in new trailer

The next hero in Overwatch is Sierra, a new damage dealer with fascinating abilities. Blizzard Entertainment announced this today along with a new trailer that tells her backstory. Sierra’s hero trailer follows a first look at her artwork, which was released last week.

In the new animated trailer, set on Watchpoint: Grand Mesa, Sierra intercepts Overwatch newcomer Emre, who is recovering an unknown resource. We see Sierra’s equipment, including a fully automatic energy rifle and her drone DoROTHy, which she can tether herself to for rapid movement across the battlefield.
Sierra’s rifle can also fire a homing arrow; we see her fire it at Emre, the projectile lodged in his armor. Her rifle fire then changes direction and rains down on Emre’s position. Finally, the arrow explodes, killing Emre.
Sierra starts in Overwatch Season 2 on April 14th
While we haven’t seen any gameplay footage yet – that will likely follow later this week – the trailer gives a pretty clear indication of what Sierra will bring to the damage specialist role in Overwatch’s second season. Sierra will join Overwatch with the start of the second season, which begins on April 14, as confirmed by Blizzard.
Blizzard relaunched Overwatch in February, removed the “2” from the title and added five new heroes: Domina (Tank), Anran (Damage), Emre (Damage), Jetpack Cat (Support) and Mizuki (Support). Blizzard plans to introduce a total of ten new heroes to the game by 2026, including Sierra.
Overwatch is currently available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. A native version of the game for Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be released on April 14th, along with the second season.
