Steam: Play XCOM 2 and three other games for free
Similar to the Epic Games Store, Steam also regularly offers unexpected games for free. Currently, XCOM 2, Arabian Gulf, Glassbreakers: Champions of Moss, and Hellcard are available.
Steam XCOM 2
Definitely worth a look is XCOM 2. Firaxis Games’ tactical strategy game is free to play until February 9th at 1:00 PM EST. You lead a military resistance force in turn-based battles against alien invaders, trying to keep your soldiers alive, as they can die permanently in the game. If you want to keep XCOM 2 after the free weekend, it will be available for $2.99 until February 19th.
Arabian Gulf
Arabian Gulf is a desert survival game where you search levels for treasure. According to the official game description, you can expect “intense battles” against zombie-like enemies. Admittedly, the few available Steam reviews don’t paint a particularly positive picture of Arabian Gulf, but a free game is a free game. It’s free until Sunday, February 8th, at 1:00 PM EST.
Glassbreakers: Champions of Moss
Also playable for free is Glassbreakers: Champions of Moss. The VR game can be tried for free until February 9th at 11:00 AM EST. It’s a strategic MOBA with real-time battles on hexagonal fields, playable both competitively and against AI to test your skills.
Hellcard
The free weekend trial offer is rounded off by Hellcard. It’s free to play until February 9th at 1:00 PM EST and will be available for $7.50 until February 11th. It’s a roguelike deck-building game that can be played solo or in co-op mode. The focus is heavily on monster placement, as tactical decisions are essential in the fight against the demonic opponents.
