Apple Watch gets sleep score

Apple may be developing a sleep scoring feature for the Apple Watch. The sleep score is based on code found in iOS 26 by MacRumors contributor Steve Moser. An image hidden in the Health app’s code shows an Apple Watch with an “84.” Next to the number are three bars in the same colors as some of the sleep stages that can be tracked with Apple’s smartwatch. Orange could represent waking time, lighter blue REM sleep, and darker blue core or deep sleep.

The clock graphic is surrounded by sleep-related icons that Apple uses in various places in iOS, including the moon and stars, a “zzz,” a bed, a sleep stage icon, an alarm clock, and, at one point, a thermometer.
Apple has titled the image “Watch Focus Score,” suggesting that the watch does indeed provide a sleep-related score. The name “Focus” could potentially provide a prediction of how well you’ll function during the day based on the amount of sleep you got the previous night.
Apple Watch has sleep tracking, but no sleep score
Many health trackers offer a sleep score, but Apple hasn’t yet provided one for the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch has sleep tracking and divides sleep into REM, core, and deep sleep. Apple also provides measurements for sleep and wake time.

Using the temperature icon, the future sleep index could take multiple health metrics into account, similar to the vitals option that Apple introduced with watchOS 11.
MacRumors hasn’t discovered any further evidence of a Sleep Score feature so far, so there’s a chance this graphic refers to something else. It’s also possible that Apple will introduce this option with the watchOS 26 update, and we’re just starting to see hints of it.
