Spotify expands User Notes and adds playlist notes to top playlists
Last month, Spotify introduced new features such as Running Mode and User Notes. Now, the streaming service is building on the latter idea and introducing Playlist Notes.
These are used by Spotify’s global playlist editorial team to explain the background of each playlist – why a particular song was included in this list and what makes it relevant?
To find answers to these questions, open one of the main playlists and tap the “Notes” button at the top. However, there is one limitation: the notes feature is currently only available to users (aged 16 and over) in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. It is not yet known when it will be rolled out outside of English-speaking regions.
Incidentally, you can also learn more about the playlist editors themselves by tapping on their name in the playlist view – this will take you to the editor profile.
Spotify User Notes
Not only Spotify editors can add notes, you can too. To do this, tap the three dots next to a track on your smartphone and select “Add note” from the menu. Your note will then appear below the track. Unlike editor notes, this feature is available in over 100 regions for Android and iOS.
You can take notes on your favorite songs. This is especially useful for audiobooks and podcasts on Spotify – you can jot down your thoughts on what you’re listening to. Your notes are visible to everyone you’ve shared your playlist with.
