Apple TV series “The Savant” premieres in July after delay
Apple is finally planning the release of “The Savant,” an Apple TV-series, whose start has been postponed after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. According to Variety, “The Savant” is now scheduled to air in July 2026. The Apple TV series was originally slated for release on Friday, September 26, 2025, but Apple decided against it due to the subject matter and the political climate.
When the series was cancelled, lead actress Jessica Chastain stated that she “disagrees” with Apple’s decision.
“I want to emphasize how much I value my partnership with Apple. Working with them has been excellent, and I have great respect for their team. However, I wanted to inform you that we have different opinions regarding the decision to postpone the release of The Savant.”
In the past five years since we began producing the program, we have unfortunately witnessed much violence in the United States: the attempted kidnapping of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer; the attack on the Capitol on January 6; the assassination attempts on President Trump; the political assassinations of Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota; the attack on Speaker Pelosi’s husband; the murder of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk; the recent shooting at an ABC affiliate station in California; and over 300 school shootings across the country.
These incidents, which by no means represent the full spectrum of violence occurring in the United States, illustrate a widespread mindset that permeates the entire political spectrum and that we must confront. I’ve never shied away from difficult topics, and while I wish this series wasn’t so relevant, unfortunately, it is.
“The Savant” is about the heroes who work daily to prevent violence before it happens, and honoring their bravery seems more urgent than ever. I respect Apple’s decision to postpone the release for now, but I still hope the series will reach viewers soon. Until then, I wish everyone strength and hope, and I will let you know as soon as “The Savant” is released.

“The Savant” premiere confirmed
Chastain told Variety over the weekend that she was initially unsure whether the series would even be released, but had now received confirmation that it would. “We’ll be watching it,” she said.
“The Savant” is a political thriller in which Chastain plays a woman who works undercover in the darknet to infiltrate online hate groups and prevent large-scale public attacks.
Apple has not yet confirmed The Savant’s release date in July.
