Spotify tablet app gets a major update
Spotify today announced the redesign of its tablet interface for Android tablets and iPads. The “new app experience” was built from the ground up for tablets and, according to the official press release, is intended to make listening to, watching and discovering music on larger screens more natural.
The redesigned tablet user interface is not simply an enlarged version of the previous smartphone version. Rather, it has been designed to make optimal use of the larger screen area, “so that you can discover and browse new favorites right alongside your current games.”
Spotify with new sidebar
The user interface automatically adjusts when switching between portrait and landscape mode – it no longer simply scales as before. According to Spotify, this makes it feel “balanced and coherent” in both views. The new sidebar, with its interactive and scrollable content, allows users to browse and discover while listening and can be shown or hidden as needed.
The “Switch to Video” button is prominently displayed, allowing you to easily switch to a more immersive viewing experience. Although the user interface is different, the core navigation remains unchanged, so using it still feels like a natural extension of the mobile app. The bottom navigation bar is present, ensuring your most important pages are always quickly accessible.
