Amazon Prime Video Ultra is completely ad-free. However, the price has just increased slightly, and Ultra is currently only available in the US.

You might not know this yet, but Amazon Prime Video offers, similar to Netflix, a premium, ad-free subscription. Most users already have access to this as part of their Amazon Prime membership. This premium subscription is a step up and costs extra – $4.99 per month, up from the previous $2.99 after the price increase. The service also has a new name: Prime Video Ultra.

But there’s also good news. Amazon has invested heavily in improving its new Ultra plan. 4K/UHD streams can now be viewed with optional Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The maximum number of simultaneously usable devices has been increased to five, and the offline download capacity is now 100.

Prime Video now with Dolby Vision

Furthermore, the basic version included in the regular Prime subscription has also been improved. While streaming remains limited to 1080p, Dolby Vision will now be available as an option for some content. Dolby Atmos, however, is not available – the Ultra subscription is still required for that. And of course, you will still see advertisements. The number of downloadable titles has been doubled from 25 to 50.

In the US, where the service is launching first, Amazon Prime costs $14.99 and includes the basic Prime Video subscription. The Ultra subscription costs an additional $4.99 per month, as mentioned. In Europe, Prime Video costs €8.99.
