This week, after months of leaks, Apple finally unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, both equipped with the new A20 Pro chip. As usual, the company heaped praise on its latest and most powerful chipset, claiming it surpasses all its predecessors. Now, the first Geekbench tests have arrived.

Geekbench 6.7 tests reveal two new iPhones: the iPhone 19.2 (iPhone 18 Pro) and the iPhone 19.3 (Pro Max). Their single-core scores are 4,719 and 4,612 points, respectively, while their multi-core scores are 12,677 and 11,819 points. The average single-core score is approximately 4,665 points, and the average multi-core score is approximately 12,248 points.

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max with over 20% more power

Compared to the average performance of the previous generation iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, the new results represent a 21–23% increase in both single-core and multi-core performance. This is a remarkable achievement, especially considering the A20 Pro is also manufactured using the more energy-efficient 2nm process. The A20 Pro’s CPU clock speed reaches up to 4.93 GHz, and as expected, both new iPhones feature 12 GB of RAM. Naturally, they run iOS 27, which will be released on Monday, September 14.

The upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9600 achieved 4,139 points in the Geekbench single-core test and 13,285 points in the multi-core test. This puts it slightly ahead of the A20 Pro in the multi-core test, but significantly behind in the single-core test. However, these results should be interpreted with caution, as they were all achieved with prototypes.

While results for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset are circulating, these either originate from a different Geekbench version or from test devices that weren’t yet running on all cylinders. Therefore, it remains to be seen how the A20 Pro’s performance will compare. This will be confirmed at the end of the month when the Dimensity 9600 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 are officially unveiled.
