Apple MacBook Neo charging test: Which Apple charger is the fastest?

The Apple MacBook Neo doesn't come with a charger in Europe and the UK. So you might as well just buy a faster one.

According to the official technical specifications, the Apple MacBook Neo is not “fast charging capable”, but it can still be charged faster with certain Apple chargers.

Apple includes its 20-watt USB-C power adapter with the MacBook Neo—but only in the US. Here in Europe and the UK, no charger is included at all. However, a new charging test has shown that Apple’s 35-watt compact power adapter with two USB-C ports is the better choice if you want the fastest charging speeds from Apple for the least extra cost.

Apple MacBook Neo reaches 30 watts in charging test

The video below shows ChargerLABthat the Apple MacBook Neo achieves a maximum charging output of 18 watts with the included 20-watt charger. With Apple’s 35-watt power adapter, which is available in two sizes for 65 euros/59 US dollars in the Apple Store, the charging power increased to 30 watts in the test.

Of course, various chargers with 30 watts and more from Apple and other manufacturers can charge the MacBook Neo at peak speeds of 28 to 30 watts. So, anyone wanting to save money should look for alternatives to Apple.

If you decide to go with Apple, keep the following in mind: While Apple’s 35-watt power adapter charges faster than the included 20-watt adapter, the more expensive 96-watt and 140-watt adapters offer no additional advantage – the charging power remains at around 30 watts.

The Apple MacBook Neo was launched last Wednesday, and Apple CEO Tim Cook announced today that it had the best MacBook sales week ever in its first week on the market.
