Honor Magic V6: Chinese premiere with larger batteries and stress test

A little over a week after the presentation at the MWC the Honor Magic V6 is now officially available in China. The foldable smartphone boasts a higher battery capacity in China. And more importantly: we finally know the prices, as Honor didn’t announce them at MWC.

The Chinese Magic V6 devices come in two battery capacities, depending on the RAM and storage configuration. Versions with 256 and 512 GB of storage are equipped with 6,850 mAh Si-C cells, while the top model with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage has an even larger 7,150 mAh battery.

For comparison: The global Honor Magic V6 has a 6,660 mAh Si-C battery. All versions support 80W wired charging and 66W wireless charging.
Aside from the more powerful batteries, the Chinese versions of the Magic V6 have two physical SIM card slots and identical specifications to the global models. These include the flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a triple camera with a 3x periscope telephoto lens, water and dust protection according to IP68 and IP69, as well as a 6.52-inch cover display and a 7.95-inch main display.

Buyers in China can already pre-order their Magic V6 devices; delivery is scheduled for March 13th.
The Honor Magic V6 also works as a pull-up bar.
In a previous PR stunt, Honor sent Joe Weller for ziplining to demonstrate the stability of the Honor Magic V6 hinge. The latest stunt is similarly impractical: an Honor manager used the V6 for pull-ups.
As before, the person’s weight hung on the hinge of the Honor phone, while the sides of the phone were attached to the ceiling (and in front of it to the zip line).

While this is not the weakest position for the hinge, it is still far above the stress it is subjected to in daily use.
The hinge is made of special 2800 MPa steel, making it structurally stable and shock-resistant. This steel is twice as expensive as a titanium alloy.
