Fairphone 5: 10/10 points for repairability
Fairphone products are designed to last and be easy to repair. According to iFixit, the Fairphone 5, which came onto the market in September, meets exactly these criteria. The repair experts put the sustainable smartphone through its paces in their typical teardown test and gave it a repairability rating of 10/10.
The Fairphone 5 is extremely easy to open without having to heat the back or pry off glass elements. You simply grab the covers and you can replace the battery. Despite the removable back, the Fairphone 5 still has protection against dust and water jets in accordance with the IP55 standard.
If you take a closer look, you’ll quickly see the repairable design of the Fairphone 5 with easy-to-remove connection modules. There are also individually replaceable camera sensors and marked cable and component labels to help the user with repairs.
