Build quality

The build quality is solid. The stick is made of robust plastic and feels sturdy. The remote control fits comfortably in the hand and has high-quality buttons with a pleasant tactile feedback. The included HDMI extension cable and power adapter also appear durable.

Display

The Fire TV Stick HD supports a maximum resolution of 1080p at 60 frames per second. The picture quality is optimal for Full HD televisions. It also supports HDR10 and HLG, which contributes to improved color reproduction and contrast. However, this model is not suitable for 4K content, which limits its functionality compared to more expensive models like the Fire TV Stick 4K.

Performance

Equipped with a quad-core processor, the Amazon Fire TV Stick HD (3rd Gen.) delivers smooth performance for streaming HD content and running apps. Loading times are short, and the user interface is responsive. The 8GB of internal storage is sufficient for most applications, though it can become limited with a large number of apps installed. The new Alexa Voice Remote enables voice-controlled navigation and app launching.

Battery

The remote control uses two AAA batteries, which are included. The battery life is long, with replacement typically only necessary after several months.

Conclusion

The Amazon Fire TV Stick HD (3rd Gen.) is an ideal choice for users looking for an affordable streaming device for Full HD TVs. It offers solid performance, good picture quality, and an intuitive user interface. With its improved Alexa remote and HDR support, it stands out from older models. However, those who need 4K content or more internal storage should opt for a more powerful model.
