ZTE introduced the new Axon 60 Ultra in China today. It has a completely new feature on board – dual satellite connectivity with the ability to send and receive calls. You can also send text messages via the Chinese Tiantong satellite system. However, the Axon 60 Ultra is limited to Chinese government and corporate markets and is not available to general consumers.

ZTE also added a multi-antenna switching algorithm. This allows the Axon 60 Ultra to combine cellular and satellite networks to improve data transmission and reduce latency. The better connectivity is primarily intended to help with reception in areas with weak mobile phone coverage.

The ZTE Axon 60 Ultra Axon 60 Ultra also supports the new 5G Advanced standard, also known as 5.5G. China Mobile’s new high-speed 5G network creates downlink speeds of up to 10 Gbps and uplink speeds of up to 1 Gbps.

The other special feature of the Axon 60 Ultra is the dual-system architecture, which includes a user mode and a kernel mode. User mode allows apps to run with limited access for greater system security, while kernel mode gives the operating system unrestricted access to hardware resources.

The ZTE Axon 60 Ultra is based on a 6.78-inch OLED display with a 1220p resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. In addition to last year’s flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, there is also LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage on board.

On the back there is a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, as well as a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and an unspecified macro lens. There is also a 32 megapixel front camera in a punch hole in the display. The ZTE Axon 60 Ultra has a 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery with 80 watt cable charging power. The device is also water and dust resistant to IP68. ZTE has not yet announced any pricing or availability details for the new Ultra.
