With the introduction of Android 13 and One UI 5, Samsung is currently one of the fastest manufacturers when it comes to updates. The latest Samsung smartphones to get the firmware update are last year’s foldable flagships. The Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 get Android 13.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 / Z Flip3
Anyone who took part in Samsung’s One UI 5 beta program is currently getting a firmware version that ends in DVK3. However, the software update should roll out for everyone in the next few days, so that all Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 get the update.
As usual, the new firmware comes with the latest November security patch as well as the new Android 13 features including Samsung’s adjustments. These include the redesigned lock screen with more customization options, new widgets, Bixby text calls, One UI modes and more. Our detailed article about the new functions can be found here. Samsung also released an official rollout schedule.
Even faster Samsung updates in the future
Google released Android 13 on August 15th. Samsung’s first Android 13 update went to the Galaxy S22 series on October 24, a good two months later. Since then, the Koreans have updated countless devices. It is commendable that they not only focused on the flagships, but also updated various mid-range smartphones. The rollout of One UI 5 was the fastest ever for Samsung. Nevertheless, they want to be even faster next year.

The group published a post today in its home country of Korea, summarizing the successful efforts to distribute One UI 5 with pride. At the same time, it was assured that future One UI versions will be deployed even faster and on even more devices at the same time.
In just a few years, Samsung has gone from being one of the worst Android manufacturers when it comes to updates to one of the, if not the best. For example, in recent months, the monthly Android security patches often arrived on Samsung phones before the start of the new month. And that’s even before Google itself updated its Pixel phones.
Samsung also announced that the Galaxy A52s 5G, A32 and Z Fold2 will be getting Android 13 by the end of the year. In addition, the rollout of the new software for the Galaxy S20 and Note20 series should start by the end of the month.
