The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12R has just popped up on China Telecom's website with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset.

Xiaomi quietly launched the Redmi Note 12R Pro in April, a CNY1,800 ($250/€230/₹20,500) phone with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset. So far, however, there hasn’t been a basic model – until now. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12R with model number 23076RA4BC has just appeared on China Telecom’s website. Interestingly, it seems to have a better chipset than the Pro.

Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but the specified chipset called SM4450 should be the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. The processor is said to be produced on a 4nm node from Samsung instead of the 6nm TSMC node of the 4 Gen 1 chip. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12R has up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage on board and there is a microSD slot.

However, China Telecom listed some other important details. This includes a 6.79-inch FHD+ display, which would be significantly larger than the Redmi Note 12R Pro’s 6.67-inch panel. The camera, on the other hand, is average at best with a 50-megapixel wide and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The dimensions are 168.6 x 76.3 x 8.17 mm and the weight is 199 g. The whole package is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery whose charging speed is still unknown. In addition to the USB-C port, the phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

According to China Telecom, the Redmi Note 12R will be launched in China on June 30th. This could make it the first smartphone with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. Here are the Chinese prices:

Configuration / price

  • 4/128GB: CNY1,100 / $153 / €140
  • 6/128GB: CNY 1,200 / $167 / €153
  • 8/128GB: CNY 1,600 / $223 / €203
  • 8/256GB: CNY 1,800 / $250 / €229

The Xiaomi phone will be launched in three colors – Midnight Black, Sky Fantasy and Time Blue. The latter version can be seen in the China Telecom images.
