Xiaomi has announced a new smartphone called Redmi 12 – mind you, without the usual addition Redmi “Note”. The device comes as the successor to last year’s Redmi 11 and is already available in Thailand.

The Xiaomi Redmi 12 has a 6.79-inch LCD display with FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. An 8-megapixel selfie camera is housed in a punchhole on the front. The main camera on the back, on the other hand, has a resolution of 50 megapixels. In addition, Xiaomi installs an 8 megapixel ultra wide cam and a 2 megapixel macro lens. It is powered by a Helio G88 chipset from MediaTek, which can access 4/8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage. There is also a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

MIUI 14 based on Android 13 covers the software front, while the battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh and supports charging with up to 18 watts. The Xiaomi cell phone has a fingerprint sensor built into the side frame, a headphone jack and protection against splash water according to IP53.
The Xiaomi Redmi 12 is available in Midnight Black, Sky Blue and Polar Silver colors. The price in Thailand is 5,299 THB (140 euros/153 US dollars) for the 8/128 GB variant and you can already buy it from Shopee and Lazada. According to previous rumours, the Redmi 12 will cost 199 euros when it arrives in Europe.
