The Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi launched the Redmi 12 4G with a 50 megapixel main camera last month. Next up is the 5G version and now there’s an official date – August 1st. The reveal comes from Redmi’s Indian branch, which said that the Redmi 12 5G will make its global debut in India next Tuesday.
Xiaomi has not yet revealed the technical data of the Redmi 12 5G in detail. But the Chinese now confirmed some important specifications of the smartphone. This includes a 50 megapixel main camera, 8 GB of RAM plus a maximum of another 8 GB of virtual RAM and 256 GB of storage. The battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh.
The Xiaomi Redmi 12 5G also features a crystal glass design, a punchhole display and a USB-C port. According to a Geekbench test, it is powered by the new Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset. According to current rumours, the upcoming Xiaomi phone will be a version of the Redmi Note 12R. The 12R on the other hand is based on the Redmi 12 4G, but also has the 5G-capable Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip under the hood. There is also a 5 megapixel selfie camera, while Xiaomi does without an ultrawide camera. The 4G model will also be launched in India on August 1st.
