Xiaomi will launch the Poco F5 / Redmi K60 series in China on December 27th. The company announced the date on the Chinese social network Weibo and also confirmed that the new series will not include a gaming version. The base model Poco F5 / Redmi K60 has a triple camera setup on the back including a periscope lens. The latter is a real premium feature and a first for a Poco / Redmi smartphone.

Xiaomi Vice President Lu Weibing had already confirmed the move away from a gaming version earlier this month. In a series of teasers on Redmi’s Weibo page, the Chinese explained that their flagship smartphone’s performance is also good enough for mobile gaming and doesn’t require a dedicated version.

There are still four days to go before the event, so enough time for more details and technical data through more official teasers. Brand manager William Lu already revealed that one of the models, likely the regular Poco F5 / Redmi K60, will have a Dimensity 8200 chipset.
Rumors also point to a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset for the Poco F5 Pro / Redmi K60 Pro. There will be an official confirmation by Tuesday at the latest.
