vivo has just officially introduced the X Fold 2 and yesterday the first teardown appeared on the internet. Time for the assembled Chinese tipsters to focus on the next big thing – the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3. According to Digital Chat Station, the new foldable smartphone will arrive in the second half of 2023 with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
In addition, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 should bring a periscope camera and a waterproof structure. Xiaomi has yet to announce the actual IP rating. But both are features that are long overdue in the world of foldables. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is waterproof, but does not have any flagship cameras. The new vivo X Fold 2, on the other hand, has a periscope camera, but is not protected against water ingress.
The predecessor Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 charged its batteries with 67 watts, which was fast at the time. The successor should keep the 67 watts, but according to the tip, the same 67 watts also arrive wirelessly with Mix Fold 3. That would be exactly the same charging setup as in the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, which is now over two years old. On the other hand, the challenges with the extremely thin foldables are also different and at least the Chinese would also open the door for reverse wireless charging of wearables.
Digital Chat Station also compared the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 to the current Fold 2, saying it will be even thinner and lighter. However, he did not give any concrete figures.
