Xiaomi confirmed earlier this month that the Mix Fold 3 will launch in August. It is the first Xiaomi phone to be built on a new production line with an improved design to ensure the stability of the foldable body. Today, the Chinese once again confirmed the report on their official Weibo account, adding that Xiaomi and Leica have come up with a new solution for a “optical full-focus quad-cam setup”. This at least ensures that the new Mix will have four cameras on the back instead of three as in the previous Xiaomi Mix Fold 2.

Only Vivo and Huawei currently have foldables with four main cameras on the back. This is the same combination that Xiaomi should also use. In addition to a wide-angle, this means an ultra-wide lens and two telephoto cameras, one of which uses a periscope lens. Unfortunately, details on the technical data of the individual cameras are still scarce. There should also be an under-display camera in the foldable main display.
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 was the thinnest foldable on the market at the time of its launch. Its predecessor, the first Mix Fold, was the first foldable smartphone with 67 watt fast charging and a Liquid Lens camera. Unfortunately, what Xiaomi has consistently omitted for the Fold series is an international launch. Hopefully the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 is finally going international, even if previous rumors have given little reason for hope so far.
