Xiaomi Mix Flip certified with satellite connectivity

Today the Xiaomi Mix Flip was certified in China - Xiaomi is continuing to pursue its Flip project and is getting closer to launching.

Back in September last year, we first heard that Xiaomi was working on a flip-style foldable device to complement the Mix Fold series in its portfolio. The new foldable was supposed to be called the Xiaomi Mix Flip and there were rumors that it would launch alongside the Mix Fold 4 sometime later this year.

Today, the Xiaomi Mix Flip was certified in China by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The certification reveals a potentially surprising fact: the Mix Flip will support satellite connectivity. This is still a rarity in the smartphone world and is limited to a few flagships. This includes the Huawei Mate 60 series, the iPhone 15 series, the Oppo Find X7 and the new Galaxy S24 phones.

The certification also confirms the fact that the Xiaomi Mix Flip runs on Android and supports 5G. On the one hand, this is not surprising. On the other hand, there is no further information about the specs. The bottom line is that the most exciting information at this point is that Xiaomi continues to pursue its flip project and the device apparently rapidly approaches launch.

According to previous rumors, the Xiaomi phone will have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset under the hood. There are three main cameras on the back, just like Oppo’s Find N3 Flip, including a 3x telephoto lens. Hopefully the Mix Flip will also reach markets outside of China. However, that would be a first in the mix series.

  1. Where does the information that the Galaxy S24 series has satellite connectivity come from, if Samsung does not mention it anywhere and there is no information on the Samsung website?
