Xiaomi introduced various new products today, including the Xiaomi 13 Ultra as well as the Pad 6 and the Pad 6 Pro. Also on stage were the Xiaomi Band 8, the Sound Move speaker and the new 86-inch Mini LED smart TV.
Xiaomi Band 8
The Xiaomi Band 8 retains the pill-shaped 1.62-inch AMOLED display of its predecessor, with a resolution of 490 x 192 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate. Unlike its predecessor, though, there’s finally always-on-display support and a peak brightness of 600 nits compared to the Band 7’s 500 nits.
The Band 8 comes with numerous official Xiaomi straps. Among them are all kinds of materials such as leather, a nylon fabric and metal in different styles. There is also a pendant accessory as well as a clip for the Xiaomi smartwatch. You can attach the latter to your shoes to monitor your training and movements.
The Xiaomi Band 8 is still water resistant to 50 meters and weighs 27 grams. The health tracking sensors remain unchanged with a heart rate monitor, blood oxygen tracker, and sleep and stress tracking. There’s also the same set of fitness tracking features, but with the added benefit of interactive fitness classes. Courses use the Band 8’s accelerometer to track movement in real-time. They are offered in Xiaomi’s Mi Fitness app with full instructions included.
Xiaomi states a battery life of 16 days with typical use and 6 days with AOD mode switched on. The Band 8 also comes with a new two-pin charger that can fully charge the 190 mAh battery in an hour. The Xiaomi Band 8 is priced at CNY 249 (€33/$40) without and CNY 299 (€40/$43) with NFC. International pricing and availability are tba.
Xiaomi Sound Move
Xiaomi also introduced a new smart speaker called Sound Move. The Xiaomi Sound Move has an aluminum housing, Bluetooth 5.3 and LHDC codec support and is IP66 certified for protection against water and dust. On the side is a set of touch-sensitive controls, including a button to launch a digital assistant.
The Xiaomi Sound Move is equipped with two 7.5 watt speakers with Harman Kardon tuning. The speaker’s battery life is 21 hours on a single charge thanks to a 4,150 mAh battery. The Xiaomi Sound Move costs 699 CNY (€93/$102).
Xiaomi 86 inch mini LED smart TV
The new Xiaomi 86-inch Mini LED smart TV offers 4K resolution, a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. An important point at the presentation was a new image quality engine from Xiaomi itself. This is intended to optimize all types of content played on the television.
The Xiaomi 86 inch Mini LED smart TV has a Cortex A73 CPU and a Mali G52 GPU under the hood, as well as 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. In addition, the speakers deliver a total of 70 watts and there are three HDMI 2.1 ports. MIUI TV is used as the operating system. It can be yours for 15,999 CNY (€2,121/$2,327).
