Xiaomi 15 Pro: Periscope zoom camera and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

The Xiaomi 15 Pro is said to have a periscope zoom camera, bringing it closer to the 15 Ultra in terms of photo performance.
Xiaomi 14

The Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro will be the first two smartphones to feature Qualcomm’s next top chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Xiaomi reportedly has exclusive rights to the premiere, which according to the leak will take place in mid-October. The Xiaomi 14 came out on October 26 last year, so the story could fit. However, this initial release will likely only happen on the Chinese market, as has been the case with the company’s flagships for several years. The Xiaomi 14 only made its international debut at the MWC in February.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset reportedly achieves a single-core score of around 2,700 and a multi-core score of around 10,000 points in benchmark tests on Geekbench, according to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station. Its CPU is said to have two extremely fast main cores with clock speeds of 3.6 to 4 GHz. In addition to the performance improvements on the CPU side, the GPU should also improve significantly.

There are also changes to the main camera of the Xiaomi smartphone. Both the Xiaomi 15 and the 15 Pro should have adapted OmniVision 50 megapixel main cameras. The sensor size is 1/1.3 inches, and a large, but undisclosed aperture is also installed. There are also two additional 50 megapixel cameras, probably ultra-wide angle and telephoto. In addition, the lenses will have a new, multi-layer anti-reflective coating that should improve light transmission and reduce glare and ghosting. The Xiaomi 15 Pro could even get a periscope telephoto lens, which uptil now only got to the Ultras at Xiaomi.

Three 50 megapixel cameras

The design of the camera module of the Xiaomi 15 Pro should stay a rectangle with rounded corners in the upper left corner. That sounds like it will be very similar to the design of the Xiaomi 14 Pro. The only difference is the LED flash array. It moves to the outside of the camera island to make room for the periscope.

According to an earlier rumor, the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro could also get ultrasonic fingerprint sensors. However, Digital Chat Station now said that no final decision has been made on this.
