Qualcomm will unveil its latest and greatest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, earlier than in previous years. The chip giant’s annual Hawaii event will take place from October 24th to 26th in 2023 and is therefore almost upon us. According to a new rumor from China, Xiaomi is desperate to be the first phone maker to announce devices with the new chipset. Namely the upcoming Xiaomi 14 series.

To ensure that Xiaomi will become the first manufacturer with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the portfolio, the Chinese are planning an event directly one day after Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit. On October 27th the new flagship smartphones Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro will be presented, the successors to the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. Last year, the new Xiaomi phones only came onto the market in December 2022. But the matching Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip only saw the light of day on November 16, 2023.

The Xiaomi 14 series will reportedly have a new design and three main cameras. Xiaomi develops all three together with Leica – both the main camera, the ultra-wide and the telephoto camera. MIUI 15 based on Android 14 will take over the os part. Although we also already saw reports of a new system called MiOS.

According to rumors, the Xiaomi 14 Pro will have a titanium frame and satellite connectivity. Both models have already been approved by the relevant authorities for sale in China. There will be various updates, both in terms of the display, the camera functions, the charging speeds and battery capacities and even the vibration motor. In addition, mass production of the new Xiaomi smartphones has apparently already begun.
