After the highly acclaimed Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra from 2021, which ended our test as one of the best smartphones on the market at the time, we eagerly awaited the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Instead, Xiaomi announced the 12S Ultra, which positioned itself as a real flagship due to the 1-inch Sony IMX989 main camera sensor. Unfortunately, the 12S Ultra never left China, allegedly due to the global chip shortage in 2022. Since then, everyone has been eagerly awaiting whether a Xiaomi 13 Ultra will hit global markets this year.

According to a new leak, that’s exactly what should happen in 2023. The info comes from the normally reliable tipster Ice Universe. He stated that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be sold internationally. Also, in the same tweet, he said that the Oppo Find X6 Pro, on the other hand, remains exclusive to China.
In the past, the Ultra models from Xiaomi always brought exclusive, new features to differentiate themselves from the other models in the respective series. With the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra it was the small second display on the back. You could use it as a viewfinder for selfies with the main cameras and display notifications with it. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra, on the other hand, was one of the first smartphones to use the Sony IMX989 sensor.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will also be among the best camera phones out there. This is supported, among other things, by the rumor that the upcoming Ultra will have gimbal stabilization. All four cameras are equipped with PDAF autofocus and additionally supported by a dToF sensor (Direct Time-of-Flight). The design will be similar to the 12S Ultra, as some leaked protective cases have already revealed.
