The Xiaomi 13 series is expected shortly before the end of the year, the Samsung Galaxy S23 series with satellite communication is coming in early February. Both manufacturers will rely on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset that has just been introduced. The first Geekbench tests of the Xiaomi 13 series now show a significantly different performance.

Samsung Galaxy S23+ / S23 Ultra / Xiaomi 13 Geekbench reviews
The first screenshot shows a Geekbench benchmark from the Samsung Galaxy S23+, the second from the S23 Ultra and the third from the Xiaomi 13. In terms of single-core performance, the Xiaomi 13 leads by a tiny margin with 1,507 points. In the multi-core test, on the other hand, the values differ significantly. While the S23+ already performs below average with 4,844 points, the S23 Ultra with 4,580 points is far behind the 5,343 points of the Xiaomi 13.
The new vivo X90 Pro+ showed similar test results. So far, however, the assumption was that a special feature of the S23 series was the cause. An adapted Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 version with a higher prime core clock of 3.36 GHz (instead of 3.2 GHz) is said to be used in the Samsung cell phones. The main core also shows strong performance, but the tested Xiaomi 13 still just beats it. In Samsung’s defence, however – these are probably pre-series devices and the final values may still differ.
New renderings

In addition, new renderings of the Xiaomi 13 in various colors have appeared today. The design with the rounded aluminum housing is strongly reminiscent of the Apple iPhone 14 series. There is also a camera module similar to the Xiaomi 12 with a wide-angle main camera, an ultra-wide, a telephoto lens with two to three times zoom and the typical Leica branding. At least as far as the main camera is concerned, Xiaomi makes no compromises. The 13 Pro will reportedly inherit the 1-inch camera sensor from the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
