Xiaomi will unveil he new flagships of the Xiaomi 13 series and the new MIUI 14 interface on December 11th. The event begins at 7 p.m. local time in China. It was supposed to be December 1st, but the event was postponed at the last minute.

Xiaomi 13

The Xiaomi 13 will be a fairly compact flagship with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset powering all models. It will have flat sides with a design similar to Apple’s iPhone 14 series. The display is just as flat without curved sides. According to the pictures there is a color option with blue leather. Colorful renderings have already suggested various other color variants.

Xiaomi 13 Pro

At first glance, the 13 Pro has a fairly similar camera module. Three lenses cover most of photographers needs and here too there is no periscope lens in sight. That’s not a big surprise though, as Xiaomi has reserved periscopes for the Ultra series for years. However, the 50 megapixel main camera will get the new 1 inch sensor from Sony, which celebrated its premiere in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.

Xiaomi 12S Ultra

As usual, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will come a few months after the base models of the series. The well-known tipster Digital Chat Station has now shared some important technical data of the camera setup. Accordingly, the Ultra will have four cameras. The 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor of the 12S Ultra powers the main camera. In the Ultra, however, Xiaomi might add gimbal stabilization.

There is not too much information about the remaining sensors. All four cameras will bring PDAF autofocus and can access a dToF (Direct Time-of-Flight) sensor. Also, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra should inherit the circular camera module of the 12S Ultra.

Not much is known about Xiaomi’s next user interface, MIUI 14, either. Some leaked screenshots showed new features like fraud detection, overhauled notification functions and text recognition in the native gallery app.
