X, formerly known as Twitter, today announced two new subscription models for its service. These complement the already available $8/month Premium subscription, which is now the middle option. The cheapest X subscription is called Basic for $3/month. This allows you to edit posts, create longer posts and longer videos, and undo posts. You also get access to the reader to read longer articles without distractions and can play or download videos in the background. As the icing on the cake there is a small reply boost.
In addition, you can use two-factor authentication via SMS and the DMs are encrypted. For customization, you can change app icons, use bookmark folders and customize both the navigation and the theme. You can highlight your favorite tweets in a separate tab in your profile and hide your likes and subscriptions. However, there is no need for a checkmark or ID verification.
Premium continues to cost $8/month. In addition to all the basic features, you get half the ads in your feeds and a larger reply boost, the check mark (and the ability to hide it if necessary), ID verification and access to the Creator Hub. The hub offers opportunities to earn money from postings, analytics via X Pro and access to the media studio.
Finally, there’s the new Premium+ subscription for $16/month. Here you get all the features of Premium, but no ads and the biggest reply boost.
